Alaattin Cakici is a notorious Turkish organized crime figure who is currently serving a life sentence in a high-security prison in the United States. He was born in Turkey in 1953 and rose to prominence in the 1980s and 1990s as a leader of the Grey Wolves nationalist group and the criminal underworld in Turkey.
Cakici was involved in a wide range of criminal activities, including drug trafficking, extortion, and murder, and was known for his ruthless tactics and violent temper. He was also a key player in the so-called "Susurluk scandal," a 1996 incident in which a car crash revealed links between politicians, intelligence agencies, and organized crime.
Cakici fled Turkey in the wake of the Susurluk scandal and spent many years on the run, evading arrest in several countries. He was finally captured in the Netherlands in 1999 and extradited to Turkey, where he was sentenced to death for his crimes. However, his sentence was commuted to life imprisonment in 2002.
In 2013, Cakici was extradited to the United States to face charges of conspiracy to commit murder and racketeering. He was found guilty in 2015 and sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. His case has been controversial, with many of his supporters in Turkey claiming that he is the victim of a political witch hunt.
